As March comes to an end, we look forward to Spring! To those of you celebrating Easter, Happy Easter! To those of you observing Ramadan, Ramadan Kareem!

This is an exciting time of year as we celebrate student growth and new growth outside in the world around us. I hope you all had a wonderful spring break. It has been so wonderful so to see all the children back at school.

We are starting a new unit of study next week around living and nonliving things. This is a fun science unit that really gets kids excited. Classes are planning field trips to support their learning.

PTA:

-Please save the date for our Silent Auction and Family Prom! The auction will be held on April 12th at 4:30pm at Campbell. We are raising money to potentially purchase a communication app, StoryPark, for next school year. We've received over 90 items from local businesses and community members. Some highlights include Bison Tours in Wyoming, a 23-24 Avalanche Team Signed Pennant with Certificate of Authenticity, A STIHL Cordless Blower, a week of Galileo STEM Summer Camp, and a night at the Stanley Hotel. We will have several items available online for people who cannot attend the event in person. All community members are welcome, especially our students! Please wear whatever makes you feel good! Maybe that's a costume or a Prom dress, or maybe it's your stylish sweats.

-We would love some help with decor and art supply materials for the Silent Auction. If you have "party" or "Prom" decor such as string lights, a red carpet, or disco ball please sign up to donate for the night. Donations can be dropped off in the Family Center.  All returnable items will be returned to you within a week of the event.

-Movie night on May 10th at Campbell! Save the date

Cougar Cub Field Day will be on our last day of school, May 24th. Your child’s class will only meet for 1 ½ hours that day which includes their preschool field day. Here is a tentative schedule for that day so you can plan ahead.

  • Breakfast provided in and around the Family Center (for the 30 minutes before your scheduled field day time)

  • First session 8-9:30 am: Naoko’s class, Kerry’s class, Teresa’s class, and Amberlynn’s class. Students will be signed in at the class like a regular day. Families are welcome to stay with their child the whole time. The field day part will last about an hour. At 9:30 these classes will dismiss for the day/year.

  • Second session 10-11:30 am: Kendyll’s classes, Claire’s classes, Carrie’s class, Ashley’s class. Students will be signed in at the class like a regular day. Families are welcome to stay with their child the whole time. The field day part will last about an hour. At 11:30 these classes will dismiss for the day/year.

We will share more details as we get closer to this date. If the weather is not cooperating, we will have field day inside.

Tawny Sabo (DTL - Digital Teacher Librarian): Tawny Sabo is due to have her sweet baby any day now and will be taking time off when her little one decides to join us. She has planned everything for us to continue her work while she is out. If there are any issues with library books, please contact your classroom teacher and we will get it figured out together. Tawny will join us for the last week of school so you will get to see her before summer break. We are so excited for Tawny and can’t wait to meet Baby Sabo!

Solar Eclipse: We are fortunate enough to experience a total solar eclipse on April 8th! From our location, it will appear as a partial eclipse. We have purchased the approved, safe glasses for all students so we can go outside to see the eclipse. We will only be outside observing it for about 10 minutes or as long as they are interested.  Please look for a sign up by your class sign-in book where you can sign off that your child can participate with us.

Move to School Day: May 8th is Move to School Day - Join Healthy Schools in celebrating Move to School Day on Wednesday, May 8. This is an event which encourages all students, regardless of ability, to bike, walk or roll to school.

Help Build The Garden!  We have a tentative date and time to build our school garden. On Friday, April 26th (non contact day for students) we will be working with Jovial Concepts to build our garden beds on the north side of school. We will be needing volunteers to help us with this project. If you are interested in helping, save the date and we will be sending out a sign up next week.

Jeffco Summer School: Jeffco has offered a summer school option for literacy over the past few years. It has a new name this year and the parameters have changed a bit. It is now called Jeffco Reads and is only for current kindergarten-2nd grade students. There is a virtual option for students 3-5th grades as well. The reason I am sharing this information is that it used to include incoming kindergarteners but no longer does.

If you have questions about Jeffco Reads, please contact your child’s elementary school.

Thanks for a wonderful week and enjoy this beautiful weather! I am only sending email today due to my crackly voice. I sound worse than I feel but it wouldn’t make for a good voice mail. 🙂

Thanks for all you do!

Go cougars!
