Dear Campbell Elementary School Community,
I am honored to be able to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Lara Wiant, and I have the privilege of serving as the new principal of Campbell Elementary School in the 2020-2021 school year. I have been in the field of education for 15 years, as a teacher, a coach, and a school leader. My teaching career was mostly in Chicago Public Schools where I taught in a K-8 school. I have spent the last 10 years working for Denver Public Schools, mostly serving as the Assistant Principal at Dora Moore Early Childhood-8th grade school in Capital Hill. In this time, I have worked with a diverse community of learners. We worked collaboratively with our staff and families to improve academic and social emotional achievement for all students.
As an elementary school leader, I realized that the education of children is a tough job and it cannot be done without the support of parents and community. My goal is that all students are happy, healthy, and learning as much as they can. I encourage families and parents to be active participants in the education of our students. There are many ways to do this, and one of the easiest ways is to establish open and clear lines of communication. Please feel free to reach out to me with ideas, suggestions, complaints, worries, praises, or general communication. It is my hope that we build a strong relationship and can work together to make Campbell Elementary the best elementary school in Jefferson County.
In my personal life, I am married to a teacher – Steve – we have been married for 7 years. We also have a beautiful son named Bode. He is 21 months old and BUSY! He is our joy every day. We also have 2 cats, Ocelot and Leo. In our free time we love to travel and enrich our lives through lived experiences. We ski, hike, camp, and just generally enjoy Colorado to its fullest.
I am so thankful that I will have the opportunity to serve the Campbell Elementary school community next year and, in the years, to come.
